Ten Things Sloane Hates About Tru (Entangled Crush)
by: Tera Lynn Childs
Release Date: September 14th, 2015
Description: When life gives you a blank canvas, make art.
Sloane Whitaker hates everything about moving to Texas. She hates leaving behind her friends and half her family in New York, starting over senior year at Austin’s NextGen Academy, and having to say she lives in Texas. Most of all, she hates that it’s all her fault. If she wants to earn her way back to the Big Apple, she has to prove she can still be the perfect daughter.
Which means no vandalism art, no trouble at school, and absolutely no Tru Dorsey, her serial screw-up neighbor, who loves nothing more than pushing her buttons.
But from the moment he vaults onto the roof outside her bedroom, there is something about him that makes her want to break every rule. Suddenly it’ s not the ten things she hates about Tru that are at the top of her list. It’s the ten reasons she doesn’t want to be without him.
DISCLAIMER: I received an e-ARC of this book (provided through NetGalley) in exchange for an honest review. Non-spoiler review, unless you count small hints. 😉
Characters/Plot: Sloane is very artistic. Tru is an amazing work of creativity. Both characters, when mixed together, its all book feels from there. The moment Tru is introduced for the first time, you fall in love with him right away. Though Tru gives off the impression that he is just a cocky jerk, its all a front. The story is told in Sloane’s perspective, but then it jumps to third to show where Tru’s mind is, without actually being told from his mind. I really liked Sloane’s determination, and I melted when Tru made a connection between Slaone and himself. He saw how he felt inside as how she was in a literal sense. Lost.
My Honest Opinions/Thoughts: I want to read this book again and again! I loved it, and if you don’t believe me, ask my sisters what my reactions to a screen were. This book is so much deeper than the cover. I half expected it to be light-hearted (which I still love), but it was epic! ♥
Extra: If you followed my GoodReads notes, you will know that I already have a picture of what Tru looks like in my head. So, this will be the second time that I have visuals in my review. Literally the first face that popped into my mind was Booboo Stewart.
“She went rising from the ground like a skyscraper, to crashing down like an avalanche . . .”
Adult content. Intended for mature audiences.
Characters/Plot: Bree is the lovely new queen of Everealm. Rowan is Bree’s childhood friend, with whom she shared her first kiss. This is the first book in the Everealm series and it follows Bree as she takes on the role as queen after her father’s death. Rowan, the son of the First Knight, Sir Nicholas, is in training to become a knight himself. However, Cupid strikes, causing quite a scandal, and the former ruler of Everealm appoints Rowan as a spy in the military, in hopes of protecting his daughter’s reputation. Bree, though she tries to move on, is still in love with Rowan, and she often hopes to see him, but does not know how she will react to his presence. By and by, you notice little clues that Rowan and Bree still have feelings for each other. And Bree has a bit of a secret . . . :3 Also, there are sparks in every direction that you turn.
Dagan, the grandson of the kingdom’s former wizard, a wizard himself, feels fusion with the lovely Sidonie. Sidonie’s sister, Adelphie, has firm opposition against doers of magic, and she sees Dagan as the enemy. In hopes to keep the courtship hidden, Bree asks her one of her childhood friends, Finnley, to keep Adelphie distracted. Right off the bat, the two cannot stand each other, but when the cat is out of the bag, Finnley and Adelphie form a bit of a bond.
The enemy in this book is Silas, king of Sire. Silas is a very harsh character, and the book jumps to his kingdom, his queen, Vallica, his mistress, whom he calls Red; his right-hand man, Simon; and Dahlia, his daughter. These characters all take very important roles in the books. Simon and Dahlia are sent out to fulfill Silas’ request to murder the young queen, Bree. Dahlia has a more . . . nasty character than Simon does. Simon is actually Vallica’s lover. A very mixed up kingdom, I know. And as it turns out, Bree’s mother, Cicily, used to be one of Silas’ play-thing, if you can catch the drift. Silas is also Bree’s uncle, on her father’s side. Oh, and Dahlia’s name is actual Ethel, Bree’s cousin. And there is a disgusting wizard in Silas’ employ. Beware of him. Beware of Vallica.
The plot is targeted towards a more adult-ish audience, and it brings the fantasy aspect to a completely new level. It is a total win-win. It leaves you on the edge of your seat!
My Honest Opinions/Thoughts: I am in love, which is all I can say. The first paragraph won me over. I may have found a new favorite ship, or two, or three, or four. ♥ I was able to read this book thoroughly, though I had a few interruptions, but I was able to pick right back up where I had left off. It is rare that a book does that to me, in terms of books that I have not read before. I overlooked some parts, but I was able to keep going without feeling dismayed. I am definitely going to move on to the next book, and I look forward to the third book as well. This book has me on fangirling overload. I am actually going to be reading it again; I love it so, so much.

It is not even 8:00am yet, but I had to be up in time to get a review posted by that time, and share it to the publisher and the author. So imagine my out-of-whack sleeping pattern since my outing on Wednesday. So, my usual early-bird behavior is kind of out the window right now, but I will be back on a normal sleep ASAP. Big families mean early risers.

Eggs. Who likes eggs? I love eggs, even though I have only begun to eat them around two years ago. All my life, leading up to my twentieth year (yes, I am 22, but who really believes that?), we never ate eggs or chicken in any form. (I binged now and then when it came to chicken, because I love chicken. Who doesn’t?!) Finally, we added those items to our every day diet, and it has been awesome. I like to tease my siblings by make my egg-yolk VERY runny (and I know it is a form of eating an egg, because I have met people who like it that way as well). Speaking of eggs, I’m going to get make me some.
I will see you all later! Don’t forget to have a look at Haddie’s Haven!
